Times Online - Britain, Terror suspect 'ran jihad web network' from South London, 3 Mar 05: "A British computer expert ran websites raising cash and recruiting fighters for the Taleban and the Chechen Mujahidin, an extradition hearing was told yesterday.

"Babar Ahmad allegedly operated websites in the United States that revealed links to Shamil Basayev, the Chechen leader behind the Beslan school attack. There was also advice on smuggling cash to the Taleban, and Muslims were urged to take arms training for a jihad."

These are allegations associated with the Babar Ahmad case, which has been previously blogged on this site. There is a support website campigning for Mr Ahmad, entitled freebabarahmad.com. The warrant from the US Dept of Justice (issued August 04) can be found here. The Azzam site which is the focus of the extradition hearing is referred to in my book Islam in the Digital Age.
